Park rangers from Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park along with historians will provide commemorative events on the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Chattanooga. The events run from November 23-24, 2013.
In 1863, Confederate and Union forces fought for control over Chattanooga, the city described as a gateway to the South with its transportation access. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of that battle, several events are scheduled. See the list of event here.
Some of the events for Saturday and Sunday, November 23rd and 24th, include ranger-guided tours of Point Park (entry fee for Point Park); historians will portray soldiers on top of Missionary Ridge; and historians will portray the Confederate soldiers who were stranded on Orchard Knob. There will also be other special programs on Saturday and Sunday as well.
Check out the library's local history book display commemorating this event.
