Great News Resource
To keep well-informed about local, national and international events, try
Ground News, one of the library’s newer resources. It has nearly 60,000 news articles from over 50,000 different news sources. The articles include possible bias – right, left, or center, as well as shows the source’s ownership and related articles. A standout feature is the Blindspot feed, reporting on less covered stories from a variety of perspectives. Local stories along with national and world coverage can arrive daily in your email.
Audiobook Feature
How Women Made Music: A Revolutionary History from NPR Music
Using the 50 years of National Public Radio archives, this audio book features 1920s’ pioneers such as Bessie Smith to the present day, i.e. Taylor Swift. A stunning oral history that covers women’s significant role in music.
Academic Success Center Construction
Heads up! Construction on the Academic Success Center (2nd floor of the IMC) is happening throughout the spring semester. That means you might hear some construction noise in parts of the Library from time to time.
If the noise gets distracting, we’ve got headsets, USB-C headphones and earplugs available, plus an anonymous way to report noise concerns. Looking for a quieter spot? The Library’s Quiet Zone (behind the bookshelves) isn’t directly under the construction and may be a better place to focus.
If you’re having trouble finding a good study space or need help dealing with the noise, stop by the desk and chat with us — we’re here to help.
Library Open for Spring Break
The library will be open for Spring Break! Our hours during Spring Break (March 2-6) are Monday - Thursday, 8am - 5pm, and Friday, 8am - 3pm. We will be closed Sunday, March 1 and Sunday, March 8. We will be back to regular hours Monday, March 9. All library hours and closings are on the website.
