Not So Frequently Asked Questions with Andrea Kincaid

Andrea Kincaid
Coordinator of Public Services

You're likely to find Andrea Kincaid manning the reference desk, teaching a class, or heading to a meeting. As Coordinator of Public Services she's a jack of all trades! In addition to ensuring that our patrons get excellent library service, she's the subject liaison for the Social & Behavioral Sciences Division and for the Culinary Arts program. Some of her guides include Psychology, Sociology, and Archives. So bring all your tough questions to her; she's prepared! You can contact Andrea at andrea.kincaid@chattanoogastate.edu or visit her in IMC-112. But before she gets to answer your questions she has to answer of few of our unique inquiries.

1.What is the last book you read?
I just finished Green River, Running Red by Ann Rule, about Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer. True crime is one of my favorite genres!

2. What advice do you have for students?
Get to know your fellow students in your degree program and classes – they can be your greatest resource (besides the library, of course). Form a study group or work with a classmate and come use one of the library's study rooms. No one knows the challenges you are facing better than your classmates! You can motivate and learn from one another.

3. What sort of movies do you like?
I like comedy, science fiction, and fantasy, but horror is my absolute favorite genre. My favorite movies as a child were The Exorcist and Amityville Horror. My more recent favorites are The Conjuring, Sinister, and It Follows, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming remake of Suspiria.

4.Top 5 bands?
I'm from Charleston, SC, so Hootie and the Blowfish has always been one of my favorites. I like a variety of genres (except country and bluegrass), but some of my top bands/artists are Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Sam Cooke, and Dr. Dre.

5. Favorite thing to do in Chattanooga?
I've only been here since February and it's already hard to choose my favorite! I love the Chattanooga Market, it's a good way for a newcomer to experience some of the local businesses.

6. What’s your favorite holiday?
Thanksgiving! I like to cook and bake, and Thanksgiving is just all about food, family, and football.

7. Where are you going on your next vacation?
My husband and I are visiting Seattle in a couple of weeks! I'm looking forward to the Capitol Hill True Crime tour, Underground tour, the Seattle Center, and visiting the REI and Kavu flagship stores.

8. Do you have any pets?
We have a chihuahua/rat terrier mix named Cody Burrito and a Hemingway tabby cat named Zissou.

9. Name one thing you think Chatt State students should know about the library.
You can get one-on-one, personalized research help with a librarian via our Research Advisory Discussions – just make an appointment!

10. What do you like to do in your free time?
Reading, kayaking, hiking, cooking and baking, live music, and travel.
