In observance of Memorial Day, the Kolwyck Library will be closed Saturday - Monday, May 26 - 28.
Locally in Chattanooga, the annual Memorial Day Service at the Chattanooga National Cemetery will be on Monday, May 28, with the program beginning at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Louis Varnell, military historian, The History Company and Veterans Museum. This year's service will focus on recognizing the 100th anniversary of World War I. Parking for the event will be at the National Guard Armory with free transportation to the National Cemetery by CARTA and VVA #203.
Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. service members who died while in the military service.
