Farewell Interview with Lauren Clapham

Lauren's Edible Book Festival entry inspired by A Game of Thrones

Lauren Clapham is another one of our amazing student assistants who will be leaving us this summer. She's graduating in August to start her career as a Surgical Technologist. We know she's going to be great at her job because we've seen how hard-working and affable she is at the Public Services desk and assisting in Technical Services. We wish you good luck in your job hunt, Lauren!

1. How long have you worked at the library and what was your favorite part of the job?
I have worked in the library (I think) since Spring 2012. My favorite part of the job is processing new books in Tech Services, and performing various circulation tasks at the Service Desk.

2. What’s the greatest lesson or skill you've learned while working as a student assistant?
The greatest lesson I have learned since working as a student assistant is patience when working with patrons at the service desk, and all the technology we have to work with on a daily basis.

3. What advice do you have for students interested in working in the library?
When working with a large variety of people, as well as all the technology and devices in the library it is important not to get stressed out about situations. Just do your best, be respectful, and help everyone to the best of your ability. Also, familiarize yourself and keep up to date with the various protocols and processes of the library to cater for the diverse needs of the library patrons.

4. What are your plans now that you’re leaving Chattanooga State?
I am graduating from the Surgical Technology program this August and will be pursuing jobs in my new career.
