Stigall Poetry Contest Submissions

Black History Month Poetry Contest!
First Place: $150
Second Place: $100
Third Place: $75

Requirements for submissions:


Submissions must be an original piece composed by a current Chattanooga State Community College student. Works previously submitted are not eligible.
Works should focus on an aspect(s) that pertains to African American culture. For example, students’ concentration could be an event or person or movement or idea either past or present.
Submissions should be no longer than three (3) pages.

All entries MUST be submitted to Turnitin.com.
o Students must go to www.turnitin.com
o Create an account with password
o The password to submit entries is Stigall2014. It is case sensitive.
o The Class ID is 7567637


Entries must include the author’s name, A-number, and a telephone number for contact.

Entries are due by February 9, 2014 at 11:59 PM EST.

NOTE: Failure to meet the requirements will deem submission ineligible for contest participation.


Requirements for winners:


Authors of the top five (5) submissions will be asked to recite their work to the John Stigall Poetry Contest Committee as part of the contest completion.

First, second, and third place winners must be present their poems in the Kolwyck Library on February 18, 2014 at 4:00 PM EST.

Students are required to adhere to a business casual wardrobe at the reading.
