A Day of Service - MLK Day

The library and Chattanooga State will be closed Monday, January 21st for the King Holiday. The library will be closed the extended weekend of Saturday, January 19th through Monday, January 21st.

The King holiday, first observed in 1986, was changed by Congress in 1994 as a National Day of Service.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. recognized the power of service. He famously said, “Everyone can be great, because everybody can serve.”

Think about the King Holiday as a day of service to your local neighborhood or to your community. For more information about service ideas or service projects, visit the King Day of Service website at: MLKDay.gov
