Not So Frequently Asked Questions with Isaac Ingram

You've probably seen Isaac around the library working on all of our tech equipment. He's our new Laboratory Technician and he's here to put out any fires (hopefully just figuratively) for the library's IT Team. He keeps things running smoothly for our 117+ computers as well as our printers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. If you have tech questions, he's another great staff person to go to. You can contact him at isaac.ingram@chattanoogastate.edu or 423.697.2573.

1. What is the last book you read?

The last book I read is Frank Herbert’s Dune; it has taken me awhile to check that one off the list. Most of my reading is spent on technical writings trying to keep up with Moore’s Law, and it can be difficult fitting novels into the schedule. Fortunately, sci-fi is my favorite, and most of it is timeless so there is no need to feel rushed.

2. What was your least favorite class in college?

My least favorite class in college was my culminating project due to the stress. Having completed so many classes in as little time possible and wanting to be sure nothing went wrong in the home stretch wasn’t easy on the sleep.

3. Who has the best cup of coffee in Chattanooga?
If I am allowed to count myself, I find it hard to beat a French press of fresh ground Death Wish Coffee Co. beans. If not, the best cup of coffee I have had in Chattanooga was at Bonefish Grill. It may have had something to do with the crème brûlée I was enjoying with it.

4. What’s always in your refrigerator?
Eggs are always in the refrigerator. I need a good breakfast to start the day.

5. What was the last job you had before coming to Chatt State?
I was an IT contractor for a company specializing in electronic payments, namely ACH transactions (e.g. direct deposit for payroll). I had been in and out of the field over the course of several years while trying to balance work and college, but along the way I learned enough to earn my AAP certification.

6. Coke or Pepsi?
Could I have a Mountain Dew, please?

7. Who shot first, Han or Greedo?
I suppose it’s possible a few out there may need it, so spoiler alert. Han shot first. The original cut of the Mos Eisley Cantina is a better portrayal of the life Han is initially leading, thus more effectively setting him up to be a dynamic character. In my opinion, the (bad) CGI with Greedo shooting first diminished watching Han find new purpose along with the feeling of seeing the Millennium Falcon return to the Death Star in those final moments of the trench run.

8. What do you like to do in free time?
I enjoy getting outdoors for walks in nature when the pollen and temperature are tolerable. I like spending time with friends which is usually playing video or board games, the occasional road trip or hike, and eating out.

9. Favorite cartoon?
My favorite cartoon is The Venture Bros., but I’ve got a few seasons worth of catching up. The brand of humor appeals, but probably more so because I got hooked on early morning reruns of Johnny Quest when I was in grade school.

10. Something you hope to accomplish by the end of year?
I hope to be on track for good health.
