Ten Years Later - We Are Still Blogging!

First Blog Post, Kolwyck Library Blog

On October 12, 2005, the Kolwyck Library joined the blogosphere! Ten years later, the Kolwyck Library Blog is still active! We are still posting about current library events and much more.

When discussing the possibilities of online communications presence back in 2005, we knew we wanted to create our own stories about what we were doing in the library. After researching possible platforms, we decided on the blog as way to create our own content, promote library services, and to have an online communication tool that could be followed or be linked out to other platforms.

Tisa Houck and I took the task of writing most of the blog post entries, but we also invited other staff members to contribute. When Tisa retired, Christen Robichaud came onto the blog team.

As of October 15, 2015, our blogger page view statistics from 2005 to now shows that the Kolwyck Blog has over 52,000 page views! Two of the most read individual blog posts were from two series - Not So Frequently Asked Questions and Recommended Reads.  These two personalized blog series were described by a blogging expert as a tremendous way to show outreach within our community.

And that is the reason why we created this blog and why we continue to this day - to provide outreach to our community.

Thank you for reading our blog!
Dwight Hunter, 2005 to current blog team member
