Jill McCorkle and Chatt State Writers@Work

Southern fiction writer Jill McCorkle will be on campus and in Chattanooga venues this week! Chatt State students in English 1020 classes from the summer 2013 term, fall 2013 term, and this term, spring 2014, have read selected stories from McCorkle's Creatures of Habit and written essays using the stories. McCorkle is a member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers and has five of her eight books named New York Times notable books.

One of the public events this week will be held in the Chatt State Library!

Public events for this year's Chatt State Writers@Work, featuring Jill McCorkle, are:
  • Monday, April 14, 6 - 7:30 PM, Chattanooga Public Library, 4th Floor.
  • Wednesday, April 16, 2 - 4 PM, KLIC - @ Your Chatt State Library, "Casual Q and A with Jill McCorkle"
  • Wednesday, April 16, 7 - 8:30 PM, Chatt State Humanities Auditorium, "Behind the Writer" Interview
  •  Thursday, April 17, 6:30 - 8:30 PM, Tennessee Aquarium, Seahorse Gallery

Chatt State Writers@Work has previously presented with Ishmael Reed and Terry Kay and brought both authors to the Chatt State campus. This year, Writers@Work has been selected as the exemplary program in the category of Enhancing Literature and Cultural Arts. There are also two scheduled book signings in the Chatt State Library on Thursday, April 17 from 10:45 to 11:45 AM and on Friday, April 18, from 11:00 AM to Noon.
