November 11, 1918 marked the end of World War I. Since then, November 11th has been set aside "to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of
country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good." Veterans Day parades and other events are held to honor those who have served in the military, during peacetime and wartime. Visit the US Department of Veteran Affairs for more information about the history of Veterans Day.
