Reference Librarian Laura Young Wins Excellence Award

Watch this video as Laura explains her
philosophy of librarianship.

Every year Chattanooga State participates in the John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Awards program, The League for Innovation in the Community College, by asking employees to nominate those whose work has proven to be outstanding and worthy of recognition. Nominees are submitted in five categories, and this year's deserving Professional Non-Faculty recipient is Laura Young, one of the library's reference librarians.

Prior to her retirement in October 2012, Laura worked at Chattanooga State's East Campus and Main Campus libraries, assisting students with legal research, as well as any other area for which students requested help.

In addition to her work with students, Laura created digital repositories of Chattanooga State History and a Chattanooga State Archive, both of which will be maintained and updated by current library staff.

Award winners were recognized at a campus-wide reception on February 11. Laura and Susan Jennings, Dean of Library Services, will attend the League of Innovation Conference in Dallas, TX in March.

Congratulations, Laura! We are proud of all you have accomplished!
